About the PMA Cadet
A PMA Cadet is a student at the Philippine Military Academy training to become a military officer.
The four-year program combines academics and military training.
After cadets graduate, they are commissioned as officers and begin their service at the rank of Second Lieutenant or its equivalent.
Qualifications for Admission
Here are the specific criteria you must meet to be eligible for entry into the academy:
- Natural Born Filipino Citizen.
- Physically fit and of good moral character.
- Single and has never been married.
- Must pass the PMA Entrance Examination.
- No Administrative / Criminal Case.
- At least a Senior High School Graduate (Grade 12).
- Height Requirement for both Male and Female is 5 feet (not to exceed 6’4″ for both).
- Age requirement: At least 17 years old but not more than 22 on June 1 of the year of admission.
Note: If you are at least 16 but under 17 years old by June 1 of the exam year, you may apply for cadetship, provided you meet the qualifications. If you pass the exam, the procedure for handling underage applicants will apply.
Application Requirements
Here are the following requirements you need when applying for PMA Cadet:
- Photocopy of PSA Birth Certificate
- A photocopy of Form 137/Form 138/Report Card/Transcript of Records that indicates the latest GPA of at least 85% is required.
- “2×2” ID photo in white background, taken within the last six months

Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
You must do the following exercises when complying with the Physical Fitness Test:
- 3.2 km Run
- Push-ups
- Sit-ups
- Pull-ups (male) / Flex-arm Hang (female)
Medical Disqualifications
Be sure you don’t have any of the following to avoid medical disqualifications:
- Colorblind
- Any Communicable Disease
- Physical Deformities
- Scoliosis
- Tattoos
- Other Medical Conditions as determined by AFP Medical Board Nr 1
Exam Disqualifications
Refrain from doing any of these to avoid exam disqualifications:
- Cheating
- Talking to other applicants during the test
- Passing to or receiving anything from another applicant or unauthorized persons during the test
- Using any of the following: calculators, cellular phones, or any other electronic gadget

Application Process
Here’s the process when you’re applying as a PMA Cadet:
Step 1: Submit Your Application:
- Your journey begins when you submit your application form to the Office of Cadet Admission (OCA) to qualify for the PMA Cadet Qualification Test (PMACQT).
Step 2: Receive Your Test Permit:
- After receiving your Test Permit from the OCA, you will report to the designated Examination Center on the scheduled date to take your exam.
Step 3: Take the Exam:
- Bring your Test Permit to the exam center to be allowed to take the test.
Step 4: Receive Exam Results:
- If you pass the exam, you will receive a written notice instructing you to report to the AFP Medical Center (AFPMC) for a Complete Physical Examination (CPE).
Step 5: Complete Physical Examination (CPE):
- You will undergo a medical, physical, mental, and emotional evaluation to determine your readiness for military training. This process lasts several days, and you’ll stay in the billeting area provided.
Step 6: Final Processing:
- If you pass the CPE, you’ll report to the PMA Liaison Office in AFPMC for final processing during the last week of March.
Step 7: Oath-Taking and Reception Rites:
- On April 1, you will officially enter the Philippine Military Academy during the Oath-Taking Ceremony and Reception Rites.
Step 8: Four Years of Education and Training:
- You will spend the next four years receiving education and training at the PMA, preparing you to become an officer of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
