About NNC

The National Nutrition Council (NNC) is a government agency in the Philippines that is responsible for coordinating and monitoring the implementation of national nutrition programs and policies. The NNC was established in 1979 under Presidential Decree No. 497 and is attached to the Department of Health.

The NNC’s primary function is to formulate and implement a comprehensive and integrated national nutrition program that addresses the major nutrition problems and concerns in the country. The NNC is composed of the Secretary of Health as the Chairperson, the Director-General of the Food and Nutrition Research Institute as the Vice-Chairperson, and members from different government agencies and non-government organizations with relevant expertise in nutrition. The NNC is also responsible for promoting nutrition education and advocacy to increase public awareness on the importance of good nutrition and its role in promoting health and development.
