Minimum Qualifications

- Must be a citizen of the Republic of the Philippines.
- Must be of good moral character.
- Must have passed psychiatric/psychological, drug, and physical tests to determine fitness and mental health.

Accepted Eligibilities for BuCor Recruitment Cycle 2026
If you’re planning to apply for the Corrections Officer I position, you must have one of the following eligibilities:
- CSC Career Service Professional Eligibility
- P.D. 907 (CSC College Honor Graduate Eligibility)
- Penology Officer Eligibility
- CSC Police Officer Eligibility (July 1998 onwards)
- BAR/Board Eligibility (R.A. 1080)
Important Reminder:
- R.A. 1080 eligibilities are accepted only if obtained after completing a bachelor’s degree.
- If the R.A. 1080 eligibility was issued before finishing the degree, it will be considered inappropriate for the position.
Example:
- If an applicant finished a 2-year Midwifery course in 2020 and passed the licensure exam in 2021, but completed the bachelor’s degree in 2022, the 2021 eligibility will not be accepted.
- It will only be considered a first-level eligibility, not valid for this position.
Physical, Medical, and Dental Evaluation Guidelines
If you’re planning to apply for the Corrections Officer I position, make sure to follow these medical and dental evaluation guidelines:
- All laboratory tests and medical clearances must be done only in a DOH-accredited government hospital.
- Medical clearance required by the BuCor Medical Officer must indicate “Fit for Rigid Training.”

- Tattoos: Any tattoo of any size on any part of the body, except for aesthetic purposes (e.g., eyebrow tattoo).
- Unusual body piercing or penile injections
- Underweight or overweight (outside the BMI range of 18.5–25.5)

- Speech defect
- Perforated eardrum, hemorrhoids, bleeding tendencies, untreated hernia, varicocele, skin disorders, or bone fracture (non-healed)
- Skeletal deformities that limit movement, or history of seizures
- Communicable diseases (e.g., PTB, Hepatitis B, etc.)
- Any mental disorder
- Falsification of medical records, laboratory results, or clearances
- Dental Evaluation:
- All applicants must undergo a complete dental examination.
- Additional dental procedures may be required.
- Failure to comply may lead to disqualification.
- Applicants for uniformed positions who are unfit or disqualified during the PMDE will not be re-evaluated. Results will be forwarded to the Human Resource Division (HRD).
- No fees shall be collected by BuCor Health Officers related to the PMDE, except for medical tests and procedures done outside BuCor.
