About PDIC
PDIC stands for Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation, a government-owned and controlled corporation in the Philippines established in 1963. It is an independent agency that provides deposit insurance coverage to depositors of insured banks to protect them in the event of bank failures and ensure stability in the banking system.
The PDIC insures depositors’ accounts up to a maximum of PHP 500,000 per depositor per insured bank. The deposit insurance coverage applies to deposit accounts in insured banks, including savings and checking accounts, time deposits, and foreign currency deposits.
In the event of a bank failure, the PDIC takes over the assets and liabilities of the failed bank and works to pay insured depositors their insured deposits as soon as possible. If the assets of the failed bank are not sufficient to pay all insured depositors, the PDIC may issue bonds to pay the balance of insured deposits.
The PDIC is funded by insurance premiums paid by insured banks and investment income from its reserve funds. The premiums paid by banks are used to maintain the insurance fund, which is used to pay insured depositors in case of bank failures.
Joining PDIC could be a great opportunity for professional growth and to contribute to the stability of the Philippine banking system.
