About BSWM
The Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM) is a government agency under the Department of Agriculture in the Philippines. It was established in 1948 and is responsible for promoting sustainable land use and water management practices, conserving soil and water resources, and protecting against soil erosion, floods, and other related problems.
BSWM’s main functions include conducting soil and water conservation programs, conducting research on soil and water resources, developing soil and water conservation technologies, providing technical assistance to farmers and local government units, and implementing disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation measures.
The agency also provides extension services to farmers, promoting good agricultural practices and appropriate soil and water conservation technologies.
