PCG Qualifications

Here are the following qualifications for the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) from Non-Officer to Officer:

General Line Officer Qualification

  • Natural-born citizen of the Philippines
  • Good moral character
  • Physically and mentally qualified under the existing regulations for PCG Service
  • Single
  • Minimum height of 5’4″ (162.56 cm) for Male and 5’2″ (157.48 cm) for Female
  • Baccalaureate Degree holder
  • Must have any of the following:
    • Civil Service Professional Eligibility
    • PRC License requiring Bachelor’s Degree
    • MARINA License for Deck or Engineering Officers
    • Pilot License issued by CAAP
  • At least 21 years old but not more than 28 years of age at the date of appointment in the PCG Service

Technical Line Officer (TLO-I) Qualification

For (Licensed Physicians, Dentists, and Veterinarians):

  • Natural-born citizen of the Philippines
  • Good moral character
  • Physically and mentally qualified under the existing regulations for PCG Service
  • Single or Married
  • Minimum height of 5’4″ (162.56 cm) for Male and 5’2″ (157.48 cm) for Female
  • Board Passer in their respective fields of profession
  • At least 26 years old but not more than 36 years of age upon appointment in the PCG Service

Technical Line Officer (TLO-II) Qualification

For (Licensed Nurses, Psychologists, Psychometricians, or other technical professions of the same level):

  • Natural-born citizen of the Philippines
  • Good moral character
  • Physically and mentally qualified
  • Single
  • Minimum height of 5’4″ (162.56 cm) for Male and 5’2″ (157.48 cm) for Female
  • Board Passer in their respective fields of profession
  • At least 21 years old but not more than 28 years of age upon appointment in the PCG Service

Enlistment Qualification

  • Natural-born citizen of the Philippines
  • Good moral character
  • Physically and mentally qualified under the existing regulations for PCG Service
  • Single
  • Minimum height of for 5’4″ (162.56 cm) for Male and 5’2″ (157.48 cm) for Female
  • Educational attainment must be one of the following:
    • Baccalaureate Degree holder
    • Earned at least 72 college units in one course
    • K-12 Graduate
  • Must have any of the following (Except for 4-years graduate of IT-Related courses):
    • Civil Service Sub-Professional Eligibility
    • Other Licenses issued by PRC, CAAP and MARINA
    • At least a TESDA National Certificate II (NCII)
  • At least 18 years old but not more than 28 years of age at the date of appointment in the PCG Service

PCG Disqualification Criteria

Current Government or Uniformed Service Employment:

  • Those who are serving as Officers, Enlisted Personnel, officials, or employees in any other capacity in the government or other Uniformed Service at the date of appointment in the PCG Service.

Criminal Convictions:

  • Those who were convicted for offenses involving moral turpitude in military or civil courts or any of the crimes against national security and law of nations, crimes against the fundamental laws of the state, crimes against public order, or crimes against public morals.

Pending Legal Case:

  • Those who have pending criminal, civil, or administrative cases.

Deserters or Felons:

  • A deserter or felon.

Separation from Government or Uniformed Service under Dishonorable Conditions:

  • Those who were separated from the government or uniformed service under any of the following conditions:
    • Dishonorably separated from the service;
    • As a result of court-martial;
    • As a result of administrative proceedings;
    • For unsatisfactory service; and
    • Under any condition other than honorable.

Visible Tattoos or Body Art:

  • Those who have any form of tattoo or body art or artificial body markings (ABM) that are visible while wearing PCG uniforms, are prohibited—unless required for legitimate health aesthetic purposes.
    • Uniform Coverage: PCG Athletic uniform (short-sleeved athletic shirt and shorts) and crew/V-necked shirt for the PCG GOA.
    • Covered Areas: Should be up until the forearm and the middle of the thighs.
    • During Command activities, civilian attire events, or Coast Guard/military weddings, tattoos must be covered.

Prohibited Tattoo/Body Art Categories (Even if Covered by Clothing):

  • Tattoos or body art falling under the following are strictly prohibited:
    • Contrary to the published basic core values of the Philippine Coast Guard;
    • Political or commercial endorsement;
    • Advocates or symbolizes all types of discrimination (gender, race, color, etc);
    • Obscene, graphic or sexual images;
    • Promote supremist or extremist ideals;
    • Ethnically or religiously discriminatory or offensive;
    • Group/gang affiliation;
    • Suggests or promotes illegal drug use or alcoholism;
    • Prejudicial to good order and discipline; or
    • Brings dishonor or discredit to the PCG or government service.

Unfavorable Physical Deformities:

  • Any physical differences or deformities that exhibit an unfavorable appearance and could potentially impact individual performance.

PCG Application Requirements

Here are the requirements for Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Commissionship and Enlistment applicants:

  1. PSA Birth Certificate
  2. National Police Clearance
  3. NBI Clearance
  4. PSA CENOMAR
  5. Diploma (College/K-12)
  6. Transcript of Record with GPA/SF10 or Form 137-A
  7. Certificate of Eligibility/License with Rating or TESDA Certificate
  8. Government IDs (TIN, Pag-ibig & Philhealth)
  9. Colored 2×2 picture with white background and name tag

How to Register

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to register for the PCG Recruitment:

Step 1: Access the ROAP Dashboard

Step 2: Start Registration

  • On the upper right corner of the page, click the “Register” button.

Step 3: Review Guidelines

  • Read the Application Guidelines and Privacy Notice carefully.
  • Once you’ve understood both, click the “Proceed” button.

Step 4: Fill Out Registration Info

  • Provide all required information.
  • Click “Register” when done.
  • A prompt will appear — read it carefully, then click “OK”.
  • You’ll receive an email with instructions for the next step.

Step 5: Personal Information

  • You’ll be directed to the Personal Information Section.
  • Read the instructions, then fill out the form.
  • If your entry is not listed, choose “Other” and type it in manually.
  • Review your info, then click “Next”.
  • Read the prompt carefully, then click “OK”.

Step 6: Residency Address

  • You’ll be taken to the Residency Address Section.
  • Follow the same steps: read, fill out, review, click “Next”, then “OK”.

Step 7: Educational Background

  • You’ll proceed to the Educational Background Section.
  • Fill out all required fields.
  • Choose “Other” if your entry isn’t in the dropdown.
  • Review everything, then click “Next” and “OK”.

Step 8: Professional Background

  • You’ll go to the Professional Background Section.
  • Fill out all required fields.
  • Again, use “Other” if needed.
  • Review your answers, click “Next”, then “OK”.

Step 9: Document Upload

  • You’ll now be on the Document Upload Section.
  • Follow the instructions to attach your files.
  • Click “Choose File” for each required document.
  • Once done, click “Submit Documents”, then “OK”.

Step 10: Online Verification

  • Your application will be forwarded to your selected Human Resource Management Unit (HRMU).
  • No need to go to the HRMU office — this is all online.
  • Be patient as they review your application.
  • Log in regularly at cg-hrmc.com/login using your email and password.
  • Check the notification bell at the top-right corner for updates.

Step 11: Examination Permit

Once your application is verified:

Option 1:

  • Click “Examination Permit”.
  • You’ll receive an email with your e-copy of the PCGSAT permit.
  • Download and read the instructions.

Option 2:

  • Click “Examination Permit” and wait for the QR code.
  • Once visible, click “Download Examination Permit”.
  • The file will be saved to your device.

Step 12: Prepare for the Exam

  • The schedule, date, and venue of the PCGSAT exam will be posted on the CGHRMC Official Facebook Page.
