About DENR
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) is a government agency tasked with the conservation and protection of the region’s natural resources. The Cordillera region is located in the northern part of the Philippines, and it is known for its breathtaking landscapes, diverse flora and fauna, and rich cultural heritage.
The DENR-CAR is headed by a Regional Executive Director who is responsible for the overall management and supervision of the agency’s operations in the region. Under the Regional Executive Director are several divisions and offices, each with its own set of responsibilities.
One of the key divisions of the DENR-CAR is the Protected Area Management and Biodiversity Conservation Service (PAMB-CS). This division is responsible for the conservation and management of the region’s protected areas, including national parks, wildlife sanctuaries, and other important ecological sites. PAMB-CS is also in charge of implementing programs and activities aimed at preserving the region’s biodiversity and ecosystems.
Another important division of the DENR-CAR is the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB). This division is responsible for the management and regulation of the region’s mining and quarrying industry. MGB ensures that all mining and quarrying activities are conducted in a sustainable and environmentally responsible manner, and that the rights and welfare of local communities are protected.
The DENR-CAR also has a division dedicated to the management and protection of the region’s forests. The Forest Management Services (FMS) division is responsible for the implementation of programs and policies aimed at sustainable forest management and reforestation. FMS also works closely with local communities to promote the use of alternative livelihoods that are less damaging to the environment.
In addition to these key divisions, the DENR-CAR also has several offices that focus on specific areas of environmental management. These include the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB), which is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental laws and regulations, and the Land Management Bureau (LMB), which is responsible for the management and administration of public lands.
Overall, the DENR-CAR plays a crucial role in the conservation and protection of the region’s natural resources.
