About FMB
The Forest Management Bureau (FMB) is a division of the Philippine Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) that is responsible for the management, conservation, and utilization of the country’s forest resources. Established in 1905, the FMB plays a crucial role in ensuring the sustainable development of the Philippine forest sector, which is a significant contributor to the country’s economy and biodiversity.
The FMB is tasked with implementing policies and programs aimed at protecting the country’s forest cover, promoting the efficient use of forest resources, and ensuring their equitable distribution. To achieve these objectives, the FMB implements a range of initiatives that cover areas such as forest protection, research and development, reforestation, and community-based forest management.
One of the key programs of the FMB is the National Greening Program, which aims to reforest degraded and denuded forest areas through the planting of various tree species. The program has been successful in restoring degraded forest areas, improving the livelihoods of local communities, and enhancing the country’s biodiversity.
In addition to these initiatives, the FMB also collaborates with local communities, non-government organizations, and other stakeholders to promote sustainable forest management practices. This includes providing technical assistance and support to communities engaged in community-based forest management, and working with local governments to establish protected areas and promote ecotourism.
The FMB also plays an important role in promoting the sustainable utilization of forest resources, particularly through the management of the country’s forest concessions. This involves the issuance of permits for logging, wood processing, and other forest-related activities, as well as the monitoring and enforcement of forest laws and regulations.
Ultimately, the Forest Management Bureau is a critical organization that plays a significant role in ensuring the sustainable development of the Philippine forest sector. Through its various programs and initiatives, the FMB is dedicated to promoting the conservation and efficient use of the country’s forest resources, while also improving the lives of local communities and enhancing the country’s biodiversity.
The Forest Management Bureau (FMB) is currently inviting interested applicants to join their team as employees and take advantage of a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the Philippine forest sector.
