About GCG

The Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG) is a crucial regulatory body established to promote transparency, accountability, and efficiency within the Philippine government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs). Created by Republic Act No. 10149, also known as the “GOCC Governance Act of 2011,” the GCG operates as an independent and autonomous entity, tasked with overseeing the corporate governance practices of various GOCCs across the country.

The primary objective of the GCG is to enhance the performance of GOCCs and align them with the principles of good governance. This is achieved through the implementation of comprehensive policies and guidelines, including performance evaluation, compensation and incentives systems, and ethical standards for board members and key executives. By adhering to these principles, the GCG aims to foster a culture of excellence, integrity, and accountability within the GOCC sector, ultimately driving economic growth and development.

The GCG is composed of a team of highly competent and experienced individuals, appointed by the President of the Philippines. These commissioners work diligently to ensure that GOCCs operate with utmost efficiency and transparency, safeguarding public funds and resources from misuse or mismanagement. Additionally, the GCG also actively monitors the performance of GOCCs, holding them accountable for their actions and decisions while encouraging continuous improvement and best practices.

Over the years, the GCG has played a pivotal role in transforming the landscape of the Philippine GOCC sector. Through its rigorous oversight and guidance, it has successfully strengthened corporate governance, resulting in increased public confidence in these government-controlled entities. The GCG’s unwavering commitment to excellence has not only fostered a more efficient and responsible GOCC sector but has also contributed significantly to the overall economic development of the country. As a central pillar of good governance in the Philippines, the GCG continues to pave the way for a more transparent, accountable, and prosperous future for the nation.
