Last Updated:

Good job!

Now here’s the next challenge: “Anong document ang ipapasa ko? Resume, CV, o PDS?”

Let’s break it down.

Nakaka-pressure ba? Relax. We’re with you, every step of the way.

In this episode, you’ll learn the difference between Resume, CV, and PDS, kung kailan sila ginagamit, at paano gumawa ng tama, especially kung first-time jobseeker ka.

Resume, CV at PDS

What is a Resume?

Ito ang pinaka-basic at pinaka-common na hinihingi ng HR.

1. What it is

A resume is a 1 to 2-page document that highlights your:

  • Skills
  • Educational background
  • Work or OJT experience (if any)

It’s short and direct to the point.

2. What it’s for

Recruiters don’t have time to read long stories. Kaya ang resume:

  • Helps them see what you can offer in 6 seconds or less
  • Shows that you’re ready to work, even if it’s your first job
  • Makes it easier for them to shortlist applicants fast

📌 According to multiple sources, recruiters spend 6–10 seconds scanning a resume before deciding to read more or move on.

3. How to create one

Don’t overthink. Here’s what you should include:

  • Personal Info (Name, Contact, Address)
  • Career Objective (short and clear)
  • Education (start from most recent)
  • Skills (tech skills, soft skills, languages)
  • Experience (OJT, volunteer, side hustle – lahat counts)

💡 Tip: Use clean formatting, readable font (Arial or Calibri, size 11–12), and avoid long paragraphs.

One page is okay for beginners. What matters is clarity.

What is a CV (Curriculum Vitae)?

Mas formal, mas mahaba, pero may tamang gamit.

1. What it is

A CV or Curriculum Vitae is a longer and more detailed document. Usually:

  • 2 pages or more
  • Includes full academic background, training, and work details
  • Shows a deeper view of your qualifications

2. What it’s for

A CV is usually required for:

  • Academic jobs (teacher, instructor, researcher)
  • Government plantilla positions and jobs abroad
  • Scholarship or postgraduate applications

CVs are often required when applying for roles in public institutions, lalo na kung technical, administrative, or project-based.

Tanong: Gusto mo bang pumasok sa gov’t or education field? If yes, then this is your go-to format.

3. How to create one

Kailangan dito ng organization at details. Include:

  • Full educational background
  • Work experience (internships, gov’t immersion, etc.)
  • Seminars and training attended
  • Achievements, awards, publications (if meron)
  • Use professional tone and format

💡 Tip: Use headings, proper bulleting, and make sure all dates are accurate. Hindi kailangan sobrang haba, basta malinaw.

What is a PDS (Personal Data Sheet)?

1. What it is

PDS stands for Personal Data Sheet, ito ang official form ng Civil Service Commission (CSC Form 212).

It’s required in almost all government job applications.

Unlike resumes or CVs, this is standardized.

2. What it’s for

A PDS serves as your legal and complete background record. It includes:

  • Personal details
  • Educational background
  • Work experience
  • Family background
  • Civil service eligibility, and more

📌 According to CSC Resolution No. 1700656, any false information in the Personal Data Sheet (CS Form No. 212, Revised 2017) can lead to administrative or criminal charges.

Question for you: Gusto mo bang makalusot sa first screening ng gov’t HR? If yes, then make your PDS accurate and complete.

3. How to create one

Here’s a quick guide:

  1. Download the form
  2. Fill it out carefully – double-check spelling, dates, and entries
  3. Attach requirements:
    • 1 passport-size ID photo (recent)
    • Signature on every page
    • Typewritten or black ink only

Final Thoughts

Every form you submit tells your story.

Your Resume, your CV, and your PDS are not just papers; they are your first impression.

Kung hindi mo pa ito naayos, this is your sign to start now.

Because when opportunity knocks, dapat handa ka na.

Ask yourself: Kung may job offer bukas, ready na ba ’yung Resume, CV, o PDS mo?
