The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is the premiere science and technology body in the country charged with the twin mandate of providing central direction, leadership and coordination of all scientific and technological activities, and of formulating policies, programs and projects to support national development.
Executive Order No. 128 mandates the Department to “provide central direction, leadership and coordination of scientific and technological efforts and ensure that the results therefrom are geared and utilized in areas of maximum economic and social benefits for the people”.
With the agency’s elevation to full cabinet stature by virtue of Executive Order 128 signed on 30 January 1987, the functions and responsibilities of DOST expanded correspondingly to include the following: pursue the declared state policy of supporting local scientific and technological effort; develop local capability to achieve technological self-reliance; and encourage greater private sector participation in research and development.
As of May 30 DOST is currently looking for competent applicants with the following job description and qualifications until June 5, 2022:
COMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT OPERATOR II (SG6/Php 16,877)
- Education:Completion of two years studies in college or High School Graduate with relevant vocational/trade course
- Experience: None required
- Training: None required
- Eligibility: Communications Equipment Operator (MC No. 10 S 2013-CAT II)
- Job Description:
- Process inbound and outbound calls through the DOST trunklines;
- Receive and respond to customer inquiries;
- Operate telecommunications equipment and monitor its operation including basic diagnostics and troubleshootings;
- Prepare reports of call, logs downtime of equipment, and other telecommunications service; and
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
- Preferred qualifications:
- Must be knowledgeable in computer operation;
- Must have a good customer relation skills;
- Ability to write and analyze technical reports;
- Technical know-how in the operation of telecommunications system equipment including diagnostics and trouble-shooting both hardware and software; and
- Must have good listening and communication skills.
ADMINISTRATIVE AIDE I (UTILITY WORKER I) (SG 1/Php 12,517)
- Education: Must be able to read and write
- Experience: None required
- Training: None required
- Eligibility: None required
- Job Description:
- Receives, records and releases intra and inter-office correspondence and documents;
- Maintains stocks of supplies, materials and forms in an orderly manner;
- Complies budgetary documents, circulars, memoranda and other documents for references;
- Encodes and files communications, records and other documents;
- Assists in coordinating and monitoring of budget proposal submissions during budget preparation; and
- Performs such other tasks as maybe assigned from time to time.
- Preferred qualifications:
- Preferably Senior High Graduate or finished at least two (2) years in college
- Preferably with at least six (6) months of work experience
- Preferably with at least four (4) hours of relevant training
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT I (SECRETARY I) (SG7/Php17,899)
- Education: Completion of two years studies in college
- Experience: None required
- Training: None required
- Eligibility: Career Service (Subprofessional) First Level Eligibility
- Job Description:
- Act as the secretary to the Director, Financial and Management Service, attends to inquiries and calls and reminds the Director of her appointments;
- Performs responsible clerical works;
- Keeps and maintains security of confidential files, records and other documents;
- Takes dictation and transcribes notes;
- Monitors compliance of FMS’ Divisions; and
- Performs such other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
- Preferred qualifications:
- Preferably college graduate
- Preferably with one (1) year experience
- Preferably with four (4) hours relevant training
- With interpersonal and basic computer skills
