The Triton Defense and Logistics Inc. (TLDI) and LCS Group of Companies on Thursday handed over 41 firearms and equipment to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in order to boost its counter-terrorism capabilities.

In a brief ceremony in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana and AFP chief Lt. Gen. Andres Centino accepted the donation from LCS Group of Companies chairperson and Narvacan, Ilocos Sur Mayor Luis “Chavit” Singson.

“Today’s ceremonial turnover is indeed a significant milestone especially for the AFP, as these donated firearms shall undoubtedly complement our firepower capability as we continue to sustain the gains of our internal security campaigns while equally supporting the government’s national development agenda,” Centino said in a statement.

The AFP received 41 different types of firearms and accessories, which will be distributed to various military units.

The assistance was made possible by a donation agreement reached and signed by former AFP chief Gen. Jose Faustino Jr. and TDLI chief operating officer Randolf V. Singson, which was later approved and signed by Lorenzana.

The donation expressed the donors’ gratitude to the AFP and their willingness to assist in the military’s mission.

“I would like to thank you for accomplishing your tasks to help our government under the leadership of our President, Rodrigo Roa Duterte,” Singson said.

The AFP chief Lieutenant also guaranteed the donors that their assistance will be put to good use.

“Be assured that we will take extraordinary measures to ensure that this equipment will be cared for and utilized to their maximum potential in fulfillment of the AFP’s constitutional mandate,” it said.
