After 20 months of being closed owing to the pandemic’s limitations, movie theaters in the Philippines will finally reopen.
Following an eerily silent year at the box office, the highly praised blockbuster sequel A Quiet Place Part II premieres on November 10 and is expected to help Philippine theaters roar back to life. The trailer for the film may be found below.
A Quiet Place Part II is the type of movie that cinemas were designed to accommodate.
“It’s very exciting to be able to come back to the theaters and to see A Quiet Place Part II because it was always designed for a theatrical experience.”
says John Krasinski, who wrote and directed the film.
Lead star Emily Blunt couldn’t agree more.
“It’s such an inspired sequel,”
Blunt says.
“It’s a horror movie, you want to watch it in the dark. Jump and leap and gasp together. I’m really excited for you to see it,”
Blunt added.
The sequel to 2018’s A Quiet Place, which became a surprise smash and cultural sensation, A Quiet Place Part II immerses viewers in a horrifying world where the stakes have never been higher.
John Krasinski directed, wrote, and produced the film, which stars Emily Blunt, Cillian Murphy, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe, Djimon Hounsou, and John Krasinski.
Following the tragic events at home, the Abbott family (Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe) must now face the terrors of the outside world while fighting for survival in silence. When they are forced to venture into the unknown, they rapidly find that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only dangers that await them beyond the sand path.
“After the incredible reception for the first film, we all felt that we didn’t want to just do a sequel for the sake of chasing the success of the original,”
Brad Fuller, the producer of the movie explains.
“John comes from a place of such deeply rooted artistic integrity so we knew we couldn’t do another film unless he was involved and we knew he wouldn’t get involved unless he strongly resonated with the material. His brain is like a strange combination lock and when it clicks, it really clicks, and that’s what happened with this idea,”
Fuller further explains.
Krasinski chose to begin the second chapter exactly seconds after the previous one ends, imitating the typical format of a serial cliffhanger. Almost quickly, the Abbotts, who are still mourning the loss of their father and husband Lee, are forced to do the unthinkable: relocate.
They are still faced with the nerve-wracking need to remain completely silent or perish, but there is also an avalanche of terrifying, unexpected new dangers that will put each family member and their connections to the test.
“Initially, I had no intention of doing a sequel to the film,”
Krasinski says.
“The story was never designed to be a franchise. But the power of the world we created became the draw to delve into it further, to see where it might lead the Abbotts as a family,”
he added.
A Quiet Place Part II opens in Philippine cinemas on November 10th, distributed by Paramount Pictures through Columbia Pictures.
