PAGASA Typhoon Signals for Tropical Storm Maring

Signal No. 2 up over 9 areas in Luzon due to Maring.

According to PAGASA, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 was issued over nine areas in Luzon on Monday as a result of Tropical Storm Maring (international name: Kompasu).

The following areas are covered by TCWS No. 2:

  • Batanes;
  • Cagayan including Babuyan Islands;
  • Northern portion of Isabela (Palanan, Divilacan, Maconacon, Ilagan City, Tumauini, Cabagan, San Pablo, Santa Maria, Santo Tomas, Delfin Albano, Quirino, Gamu, Roxas, Mallig, Quezon);
  • Apayao;
  • Kalinga;
  • Mountain Province;
  • Abra;
  • Ilocos Norte; and
  • Ilocos Sur.

In areas covered by TCWS No. 2, damaging gale-force to storm-force winds are prevailing or may be expected within the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, TCWS No.1 was lifted over:

  • the rest of Isabela;
  • Nueva Vizcaya;
  • Quirino;
  • Ifugao;
  • Benguet;
  • La Union;
  • Pangasinan;
  • Aurora;
  • Nueva Ecija;
  • Tarlac;
  • Zambales;
  • Pampanga;
  • Bulacan;
  • Northern portion of Bataan (Samal, Morong, Dinalupihan, Abucay, Orani, Hermosa);
  • Northern portion of Quezon (General Nakar, Infanta) including Polillo Islands; and
  • Calaguas Islands

Strong winds (strong breeze to near gale conditions) with higher gusts are prevailing or expected within 36 hours in areas covered by TCWS No. 1. Structures and vegetation may sustain minor damage as a result of this.
