Senator Bato dela Rosa was asked if the possibility of being a placeholder makes a mockery of the country’s electoral process.
The consultant of President Rodrigo Duterte’s drug war lost his cool while citing his victory in the 2019 senatorial election, where he finished fifth overall with 19 million votes.
However, when asked if Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte might replace him as the PDP-standard Laban’s bearer in the 2022 elections.
“Edi mas maganda… this is a party decision, this is not my personal decision,”
Dela Rosa answered.
Wearing a green shirt with the logo of Sara Duterte’s Hugpong ng Pagbabago party, Dela Rosa filed his certificate of candidacy for president, a move that some compared to the President’s playbook from the 2016 elections.
