Sen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa will run for president under the PDP-Laban wing, which is backed by President Rodrigo Duterte, according to the group on Friday.
In a photo sent by Melvin Matibag, the faction’s secretary general, Dela Rosa, a former national police chief who led Duterte’s drug war, can be seen holding his certificate of candidacy.
When asked if Dela Rosa was running for president under the party’s banner, Matibag replied, “Yes.”
“Ba-Go 2022,” PDP-Laban faction Secretary-General Melvin Matibag said in a Viber group to reporters, confirming that Dela Rosa will run for president under the political party in 2022.
Senator Bong Go, a colleague, will be his running mate.
Dela Rosa was photographed wearing a Hugpong ng Pagbabago party shirt, the regional party of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.
